Alex Consani Says: “The Kids Need to Stop F*cking Up their Skin”

Alex Consani is the people’s princess. The rising fashion model has experienced the pandemonium and fandom mostly reserved for the 90s supermodels we all know and love. Consani, though, has garnered that level of support in the current age, which was clear to see while she sat on the 2024 Teen Vogue summit stage.
The 21-year-old model was joined by Teen Vogue Style Director, Alyssa Hardy, to chat all about her current climb in ranks within fashion — while also addressing all the work still to come. In her fairly new career, Consani has already made history by being one of the first trans models to walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. As a high fashion model and social media darling, the world cannot get enough of, Consani is aware of her privilege in the space, but she’s hoping to use her platform to continue to push for change.
“I have that support from the beginning which is a real privilege,” she says on the Summit stage. “I got to hear the good and bad about what it was like to be trans in this industry. The more I work the more I see the lack of representation we need. It pushes me to work harder. I’m friends with a lot of women who are amazing at their job, but they’re pushed to the side. I’m blessed to be on the stage to talk about it and I’m happy that my voice is being heard when we talk about the need for change.”
Consani has been everywhere lately. From high fashion runways to campaigns and even as our cover star. She’s built a fan base wildly loyal to her and everything she represents — whether that be LGBTQ+ youth or fashion lovers who’ve often felt pushed to the industry's fringes. Every word Consani spoke on the stage garnered cheers, laughs, and coos.
Fan after fan asked questions during the keynote session, talking about how young trans people will be affected post-election to navigating confidence issues. Consani reminded everyone in attendance that even showing up for the Summit today meant they had that confidence inside them — it’s only waiting to be released.
On the subject of rejection, Consani added: “When it comes to rejection, you just got to be that b*tch,” she says as the crowd cheers. Being accepted comes from within. I always believed I was bigger than the box people put me in. It’s what helped me see past the no’s.”
When it comes to her beauty routine, Consani funny enough seems to be rejecting the multi-step world so many beauty lovers subscribe to. She says she doesn’t wash her face but uses a cleansing oil instead. She also emphasized that less is more. And when it comes to the “Drunk Elephant kids” all over TikTok, Consani wanted to emphasize that: “the kids need to stop f*cking up their skin.” She added that when you’re fifteen you don’t need all of that stuff, if anything it’s messing with your skin barrier., funny enough,
Consani is unabashedly herself, which has become overwhelmingly refreshing in this current polished era of media and fashion.
“I feel like there’s such a lack of art sometimes when we talk about life and fashion,” she says. “So, to represent art in my community, I’m so grateful.”
While the industry continues to evolve, one thing we know for sure is: that the world cannot get enough of Alex Consani.
