When it comes to motherhood, there are few people as candid as Ali Fedotowsky-Manno.

Just weeks after proudly baring her post-baby body on her blog, the former star of “The Bachelorette” is getting real about the daily struggles of raising two small children.

In her latest post, the 33-year-old mother of two-year-old daughter, Molly, and and two-month-old, son Riley, writes, “Trying to keep up with my business endeavours, run my blog, and take care of my two small children has really proved to be the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I don’t even know if I can say it’s something I’m ‘doing’ because I feel like I’m not even accomplishing it. I just feel like I’m failing at it.”

The former reality star admits she feels “embarrassed” for losing her patience with her daughter, and says she’s broken down several times after a particularly long week.

Despite managing a popular blog and curating a polished Instagram account, Fedotowsky-Manno dispelled the myth that her life is all glamour, and confesses to feeling envious of her husband, who gets to go to work during the day.

“I find myself feeling angry at Kevin sometimes because he GETS to go to work everyday and get a break,” she writes. “I remember going to work after we had Molly and feeling like it was a vacation and not even work. And my ‘mom job’ at home is 10 times harder now that we have two kids, so I bet going to work will feel like a spa day once I go back…”

Fedotowsky-Manno’s refreshingly honest take is one shared by millions of women around the world who struggle to juggle raising children with a career and somehow keep the romance alive and maintain a healthy and happy relationship with their partner.

Feelings of failure and disappointment seem to go hand in hand with motherhood. While nobody said motherhood would be easy, the picture perfect idea that modern women can “have it all” seemingly fails to take into account how women can have it all. Specifically, what does having it all look like behind closed doors? For Fedotowsky-Manno, this means that she sometimes doesn’t have time to shower or change out of her pyjamas.

While the star admits that her feelings are the product of a difficult week, her honesty helps other women and parents know that they’re not alone, and that sometimes, life can be overwhelming.

“Even though this is been a challenging week I know things will get better and there will be amazing weeks in my future and even harder weeks in my future,” she says. “I’m just taking it one day at a time and remembering to be grateful for these amazing children I have.”
