The holiday spirit is always in the air for guests of the Inn at Christmas Place!

The Bavarian-style hotel nestled amid the Great Smoky Mountains in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. is open with full Christmas decor 365 days a year, though it's most magical from October through December when the Christmas spirit is at its peak.

The Christmas spirit comes to life in the hotel's two lobbies, decked out with wreaths, garlands, twinkle lights and bows,

“Since we have so many repeat customers, the Christmas decor in the public areas and guest rooms change each year,” Victoria Jones, the granddaughter of the inn’s founders, tells PEOPLE.

“The upper lobby is traditional and religious with nativity scenes and angels, while the lower lobby is more secular and whimsical with our glockenspiel playing Christmas carols on the hour from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.”

The hotel recently underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation, including a completely overhauled courtyard and lagoon pool with a lazy river, beach-style entry and a large dock overlooking a waterfall. The spectacular scene was created by Lucas Lagoons from Animal Planet's Insane Pools: Off the Deep End.

“Since the lagoon area was just completed, we don’t know yet how many brave souls will want to swim in the winter,” says Jones. (The inn also has an indoor swimming pool and hot tub.)

“We will heat the area from March to October each year, and at Christmas time, we will offer guests the open space to sit and visit and use the fire pits." Twenty-foot fiber optic snowflake lights will add to the magic.

For the ultimate in holiday cheer, families or couples can book the inn’s private Santa Suite, which comes complete with a pair of full decorated trees, Santa's chair, a fireplace with a decorated mantel, and a full kitchen for the home-away-from-home vibe.

Each of the regular guest rooms is decorated with Christmas colors on the bedspreads, wreaths, pillows printed with “Silent Night,” a three-foot tree, and pictures of snowy scenes.

When Jones's family opened the inn in 2007, the decor was much more subtle. “We were shocked by how many people wanted Christmas all year,” Jones says, “and we still do a big celebration for Christmas in July.”

For the upcoming holiday season, guests have a festive list of activities to enjoy during their stay: making gingerbread houses, decorating cookies, watching magic shows and catching a “Singing Santas” live concert several nights a week.

They can also roast s’mores, indulge in Christmas cookies, and take part in scavenger hunts where goodies are hidden on all five floors of the inn.

For little ones, there are Christmas character visits five mornings a week at 9 a.m. From March through December they mingle outside the door while guests enjoy breakfast from 7 a.m-10 a.m.

For the Joneses the Christmas spirit includes gifting to family, friends and those in need, and a spirit of happiness, reinvention and hope for the future.

“The holiday season makes us all feel like kids again,” says Jones. “It brings the magic to life.”

Limited bookings for the 2024 Christmas season are still available and bookings for 2025 open in December.
