Amanda Seyfried Reveals the 1 Item of Her Daughter's That Is Off-Limits to Her Son: 'She Has Very Clear Boundaries' (Exclusive)
The 'Les Mis' actress — who spends most of her time at her family's farm in upstate New York these days — is mom to Nina, 7, and Thomas, 4
Amanda Seyfried’s daughter has “very clear boundaries” when it comes to her personal belongings.
Seyfried, 39, spoke to PEOPLE exclusively while at the Make It Cute x Babylist Holiday Event on Tuesday, Dec. 10 in Beverly Hills, Calif. The Mamma Mia! actress opened up about everything from gray hairs to what it’s like parenting daughter, Nina, 7, and son, Thomas, 4, whom she shares with husband Thomas Sadoski. She also shared that there is one specific toy off-limits to Thomas Jr. in their household.
“My seven-year-old … she's very specific about the things she loves,” Seyfried said, adding, “The American Girl Dolls, he's not allowed to touch. She has very clear boundaries as to what he can touch and he can’t. But if it's outside of the private zone, then it's fair game, and they're pretty good at sharing.”
The Mean Girls actress also noted that her two children are currently on very different sleep cycles.
“My daughter sleeps in her own bed, without fail, falls asleep within minutes, says ‘Good night, bye.’ And my son, who's only four, goes to bed in his own bed but then has to sleep with us. And I snuggle with him — like we're in L.A. right now so we don’t have his bed, so he's just sleeping in our bed. I love it.”

“I sit and I crochet, or I go to the gym in the barn, or I go out to coffee with a fellow parent or a friend upstate. I get a lot of alone time on a train when I go to the city. If I have to go to the city, I take the train. And I get like an hour and 40 minutes alone time each way. And I'm always crocheting — knitting, crocheting, that's my lifestyle,” she explains.

Seyfried also tells PEOPLE that her upcoming holiday plans entail as little travel as possible, as being home at Christmas is “sacred” to her.
“So the tradition is, really, we go, we get a tree, we decorate, and we’re home for Christmas. And then my daughter and I — for New Years — fly to my best friend's house down south and spend New Years with them,” adding that it’s a "girls-trip" of sorts.

The Les Miserables actress says she makes a point to be off work during the holidays whenever possible in order to maximize family time — noting that she also refuses to travel during this time of year. “I don't want to vacation [on] Christmas because vacationing with kids is not vacationing,” she explains.
Looking towards the future, Seyfried shares that she is preparing for her upcoming role in the mystery thriller The Housemaid costarring Sydney Sweeney, which begins shooting next year. The actress is also busy promoting her children’s decor company, Make It Cute, which she co-founded in an effort to make children’s playhouses that are both fun for kids and aesthetically pleasing in the home.
