Amazon Prime Day 2020 has finally come to an end — and according to a press release, Canadians saved more than $1.4 billion dollars on electronics, clothing and more.

Over this year’s two-day shopping event, independent third-party sellers also surpassed $3.5 billion in sales worldwide on Prime Day, a nearly 60% year-over-year increase, growing even more than Amazon’s retail business — marking Prime Day 2020 as the biggest shopping days ever for small and medium-sized businesses that sell on Amazon’s stores.

“We are thrilled that Prime Day was a record-breaking event for small and medium businesses worldwide, with sales surpassing $3.5 billion—an increase of nearly 60% from last year,” said Jeff Wilke, CEO Worldwide Consumer.

This year, Prime members shopped exclusive great deals across a variety of categories from small businesses to top fan-favourite brands, with home, electronics, wellness, and arts as some of the best-selling categories, in addition to scoring incredible deals discounts on Amazon devices. Customers purchased millions of Alexa compatible devices and set the record for the number of purchases of Fire TV Edition Smart TVs from Toshiba and Insignia compared to previous Prime Day events.
