Amy Schumer on why she got liposuction after previously thinking it was ‘crazy’

Amy Schumer is getting candid about her decision to have liposuction.

The comedian, who gave birth to her first child in 2019, spoke to Chelsea Handler on her podcast Dear Chelsea about the procedure, which she had after having her uterus removed in a surgery to help with her endometriosis.

“I never thought that I was going to do anything like that,” Schumer explained, regarding her plastic surgery. “Like when I would hear liposuction I was just like, that's so crazy to me, and I would say that I'm not ever going to do anything.”

The Trainwreck star, however, joked that she “couldn’t see” her “fupa” after giving birth to her son, which made her seriously consider it.

“Cut to turning 40 after having a C-section, and I was like, ‘Hi!’” she joked.

However, she said she wanted to be “honest” with women about surgery, in case “anyone sees me in pictures and says 'she looks thinner,' it’s because I had surgery.”

This isn’t the first time Schumer has spoken about undergoing liposuction. In January, she shared an Instagram photo of herself in a bathing suit at the beach, along with the caption, “I feel good. Finally. It’s been a journey thanks for helping me get my strength back @seckinmd (endo) @jordanternermd (lipo) never thought i would do anything but talk to me after your uterus doesn’t contract for 2.5 years and you turn 40. @paulvincent22 vickie Lee (acupuncture) my girl Nicole from the tox my friends and fam. Let’s go!”

The Inside Amy Schumer alum previously spoke about having her cheek filler dissolved on Instagram. When a commenter questioned her decision to enhance her features in the first place, she replied, “Turning 40 all my surgeries I want to feel the best I can about myself. It’s a lifelong thing. I got lipo and had a great experience doing that. I used to be really judgmental about people getting work done. Now I’m like, do everything you can to love yourself exactly as you are, but once you turn 40 and have a c section do whatever the f**k will make you feel best!”

The I Feel Pretty actress previously shared that she would “never” have plastic surgery. In an interview with TMZ in 2014, she joked, “I just know it would go wrong for me, and I’d end up looking like a dude.”

That same year, she told Cosmopolitan, “I don't judge anybody for having plastic surgery at all. I think the industry surrounding it and the drive to do it and how it seems like usually it's never enough — I think that's bad. I don't think it's great for people.”
