This Angular $3.2 Million East Hampton Retreat Puts a Twist on the Classic Beach House
You don’t see homes like this boxy contemporary in East Hampton very often.
Located south of Route 27 in Amagansett, an oceanfront, architecturally intriguing getaway on Cliff Road is up for sale. On the market for a cool $3.15 million with Natascha Tillmanns of Sotheby’s International Realty, the stylish spread was built back in 1972 and has been renovated in the years since by New York City-based designer Roger Cardinal. The enclave, fondly referred to as the Dune, has three bedrooms and two full baths across its 1,374 square feet and sits on a quarter-acre lot a short drive from the beach, boutique shops, and restaurants.

According to the listing, the owners are Susan “Gigi” Danziger and Albert Wenger, cofounders of he Spark of Hudson, a charitable and educational organization that provides initiatives and grant programs to benefit the Hudson Valley community. The husband-and-wife duo are also the founders of Wally Farms in Ancram, an agricultural incubator that tackles sustainability, food security, and energy independence. However, there’s no word on why they’re selling.
Veering away from the classic, shingle-style abodes you’d find in the Hamptons, the angular, wood-paneled pad is tucked behind an entry gate and accessed via a lush pathway lined with greenery. Inside, the idyllic estate sports a dramatic double-height living area that gives the place a loft-like feel. Highlights here include a cozy wood-burning fireplace and a large sliding-glass door that opens onto a wrap-around private deck. Elsewhere, the kitchen is equipped with a center island, stainless-steel appliances, and glossy white lacquer cabinets. The ground floor also holds a dining area, two guest rooms, and a bathroom while a staircase takes you to the primary suite on the second level. In terms of amenities, the pad isn’t packed with a ton of perks, but there is a swimming pool (of course) and an EV charging station.
The Dune isn’t the only property to hit Long Island’s South Fork as of late. Earlier this summer, another sprawling East Hampton home hit the market for $25 million. The swanky estate on Hither Lane had ties to the founder of Rolling Stone and was built by sisters Ann and Gloria Cestone. Not too long after that address was listed, an even more lavish $89 million mansion came up for sale on Further Lane in June. The seven-acre property is actually two parcels that were combined and today comprise a 10,000-square-foot main residence, a carriage house, and a guest apartment.
