The annual Hilton Head oyster festival is this weekend. Here’s what to expect.

Locals and tourists are set to gather on Hilton Head Island to celebrate (and devour) the Lowcountry’s favorite mollusk: the oyster. The annual Oyster Festival has been one of the island’s largest celebrations for more than 30 years. The event will be split into two days: an all-you-can eat party on Friday night, and a music and art festival Saturday.

Friday night’s celebration will be hosted at Shelter Cove Community Park from 5-8 p.m. There will be all-you-can-eat steamed local oysters, shrimp, lowcountry boil, pulled pork, seafood chowder and chili, provided by Roy’s Place Catering. Price of admission for Friday is $65, and $45 for children 12 and under.

The second day of the celebration will be hosted from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Lowcountry Celebration Park. Admission prices are $10 for adults and free for children 11 and under. Once inside, there will be live music from bands like CornBred and The Nice Guys and pop-up shops from local artisans like Clay on the May and Drew’s soaps. There will also be food vendors and a Kid’s Zone.

Afterwards, there will be a party at the Courtyard Marriott’s rooftop bar across the street.

Here are the most important details to remember before heading to the festival:

  • Don’t forget your credit card. Only cards and digital vouchers are accepted inside.

  • Tickets can be purchased at the door for both events.

  • Don’t worry about the weather. The festival will go on rain or shine, and refunds will not be available.

  • Leave your furry friend at home. Pets are not permitted at the festival.

  • If oysters aren’t your thing, there is plenty more to eat.

  • Last year, 5 tons of oyster shells got recycled after the festival.

  • Proceeds benefit Carmines Family Recreation Scholarship Fund at the Hilton Head Island Recreation Center.
