Anya Taylor-Joy Ditched the Pants in Not One, but Two Outfits
Cast your minds back nearly three years ago to November 2022 when the likes of Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber were all casually photographed out and about without their trousers. It didn't take long for fellow fashionable A-listers to follow suit with everyone from Dua Lipa to Anne Hathaway getting in on the ‘no pants’ look. But recently, it's seemed that pants and bottoms in any form from shorts to skirts are back in. Or make that, on.
Until now. Green lighting the return of the no trousers trend in the year 2025 is none other than The Gorge star Anya Taylor-Joy, who was photographed out and about in New York yesterday, Tuesday, February 4, rocking not one, but two outfits that tapped into the controversial (and chilly) look. And trust us when we say you need to see both of these ensembles.
Anya started off the day by emerging from her hotel in a giant shearling cream Alexander McQueen coat.
With an oversized collar and covered entirely by the voluminously fluffy fabric, the design resembled a giant pom pom or cotton candy. Especially as her long bare legs extended from beneath the shaggy hem to create a contrast against the proportions of her attire. Patent nude court shoes completed the minimal outfit. Though to be fair, with such statement outerwear who needs other clothes? The coat *is* the outfit.
She was later photographed in a different look, having changed into a mid-length black wool cape coat that initially hid what she had on underneath. Until a gust of wind blew open her outerwear, revealing a black cropped top complete with a large beaded neckline and huge cut-outs at each shoulder. She paired the glitzy top with a pair of teeny tiny micro shorts that looked more like knickers. transparent black tights and simple black leather pumps were her only other additions to the look.
We're calling it now: as the weather warms up, expect to see plenty other style stars ditching their trousers. The naked look is going nowhere anytime soon.
