Apparently, Gwen Stefani’s son has no idea who ‘No Doubt’ is

In case you somehow missed the biggest news of the decade for ’90s kids, No Doubt are getting back together to headline at Coachella this year. But Gwen Stefani‘s 10-year-old Son, Apollo, is definitely not a ’90s kid, because he did not understand what a big deal this is, like, at all.

“I had to literally lay in bed with Apollo and he’s like, ‘But mom, what is Coachella? Everyone’s saying it. What is this? It sounds like it’s a big deal,'” Stefani said in a new interview with People magazine. “So we had to watch the ‘Don’t Speak’ video, and he’s like, ‘But wait, which one was your boyfriend?’ It was so weird and so funny. I literally had to tell him each band member.”

For those, like me, who completely forgot (or blocked this bit of history from their brains, Stefani used to date her bandmate, Tony Kanal. She shares her three sons, 17-year-old Kingston, 15-year-old Zuma, and Apollo, with her ex, Gavin Rossdale.

When Stefani takes the stage with the rest of No Doubt at Coachella in April, it’ll be their first time performing together in over a decade. Their last tour was in 2012 before they went on hiatus. Stefani continued her career solo and has released four of her own albums. While she’s never been publicly opposed to a No Doubt reunion, she’s expressed doubts about whether it would work out.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen with No Doubt. When Tony and I are connected creatively, it’s magic. But I think we’ve grown apart as far as what kind of music we want to make,” she said during a 2016 interview with Rolling Stone. “I was really drained and burned out when we recorded [2012’s Push and Shove]. And I had a lot of guilt: ‘I have to do it.’ That’s not the right setting to make music. There’s some really great writing on that record. But the production felt really conflicted. It was sad how we all waited that long to put something out and it didn’t get heard.”
