Prince Harry made a surprise visit to London last week, and though it was published in The Telegraph that the Duke of Sussex initially told King Charles he would be too “busy” for a visit, even more recent reports claim the reigning monarch actually pulled an Uno reverse move since the King was “never expecting to see Harry” in the first place. *Cue le dramatic music*

On March 30, 2023, Fox News Digital reported King Charles was “too busy” to meet with his youngest son even though the dates of his state visit to Germany didn't coincide with Harry's stay. That said, the King *was* initially supposed to be out of the country visiting France, but his trip was ultimately cancelled amid the ongoing riots related to President Emmanuel Macron.

“I’m told Charles was never expecting to see Harry,” royal commentator Duncan Larcombe relayed to Fox News Digital. “Although he was in the country, Charles was too busy with Germany and the cancellation of his trip to France.” Kinsey Schofield, the host of the To Di For Daily podcast, shared similar sentiments with the publication, admitting that Charles' decision to ultimately not see his son “was a stark example of consequence.”

“The King’s diary is typically built months in advance,” she explained. “[But] the idea that the King had this time off and chose not to engage with his son tells me that Charles does not trust his boy. He does not want any drama before the coronation, and he clearly thinks Harry’s grievances are petty. If Harry and Meghan attend the King’s coronation, they should bring their parkas because things are going to be ice cold.”

However, despite these and many other sources and publications *insert Regina George voice here* trying to make a snub happen, royal expert Shannon Felton Spence disagrees. “The King was scheduled to be in France before Germany. He was not even supposed to be in the U.K.,” she explained. “So, Harry’s surprise trip was strategically planned for when his brother and his father would be out of town… The political situation in France forced an unfortunate cancellation of the King’s visit, which made him unexpectedly in the U.K. for a few extra days,” Spence continued before adding, “If the King is too busy to see Harry, it’s because he approached him as the King and not as a son to a father. Sometimes, your former boss is too busy to see you if you drop in on them.”

A refresher on this whole London debacle for ya: The purpose of Harry's entire trip was attending a four-day hearing in London’s High Court for the case against Associated Newspapers. And though it was said the Duke of Sussex would be staying at Frogmore Cottage—which is just a stone's throw away from Prince William and Kate Middleton's home at Adelaide CottageThe Express said he wouldn't get a chance to see the Prince and Princess of Wales either, as they're currently on vacay for their children's “half term” holidays. More recent reports actually confirm that Harry actually did in fact stay at Frogmore, with The Telegraph writing yesterday that, “It is understood the Duke of Sussex stayed at the Windsor property before making his surprise appearance at the Royal Courts of Justice last week. The Duke arrived in the UK last weekend and is thought to have flown back on Thursday night. He appeared in court on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and is thought likely to have also used the visit to sort out the couple’s belongings and work out what needs to be shipped to the US ahead of vacating the property.”

But tbh who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯? Maybe, just maaaaybe, they'll all reunite for King Charles' coronation, though we won't know for sure until Harry and Meghan have confirmed their attendance themselves.
