'Argylle' Debuts With Low $6.5 Million USD on Opening Day

Apple Studios' Argylle debuted with an unsatisfactory $6.5 million USD on its first day.

As per Variety, the spy comedy film racked up the $6.5 million USD opening day and preview screenings total from 3,605 venues across North America. The Matthew Vaughn title is going up against a whopping $200 million USD production budget, and is looking to be the year's first box office disappointment. Argylle marks Apple Studios' third major theatrical release, following Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon (which grossed $156 million USD globally) and Ridley Scott's Napoleon ($219 million USD).

Argylle sees Bryce Dallas Howard as the author behind a best-selling espionage book series that follows Argylle, a spy portrayed by Henry Cavill. The series becomes a worldwide success when her stories begin to mirror events happening in the real world. Also joining the cast are the likes of Dua Lipa, Bryan Cranston, John Cena, Samuel L. Jackson and more.
