Ashley Graham stuns in a Vera Wang wedding dress on the red carpet

For the fashion industry’s most prestigious awards ceremony on Monday night, model Ashley Graham chose a flesh-toned Vera Wang dress from the designer’s 2019 Bridal collection.

Graham looked stunning in the svelte, form-fitting silk mermaid gown featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline, bandeau bodice, and sheer midfriff. She accessorized with matching heels by Stuart Weitzman and clutch. Graham topped off the look with a bold red lip and styled her hair in loose waves.

Graham is actually not the first celebrity to wear a wedding dress outside the context of an actual wedding. Last week, model Gigi Hadid wore a white silk wedding gown by Vivienne Westwood.

Like Graham and Hadid’s simple dresses, a lot of modern day brides are opting for less traditional, fluffy, voluminous dresses made of tulle and lace, and instead going for minimal, understated gowns. Take, for example, Meghan Markle, whose recent royal wedding dress by Givenchy was a far departure from past traditional gowns, featuring a simple boat neck and a long veil — no frills in sight.

Nμde colored dresses like Graham’s have become a popular choice, as well as other shades like blush and baby blue. But as Graham and Hadid have clearly displayed, you can still look incredible wearing a wedding dress, even when it’s not your actual wedding day.
