Ashlyn Fall 2024 Ready-to-Wear: Menswear for All

Ashlynn Park went back to her roots for the fall 2024 Ashlyn collection, using her experience designing menswear for Yohji Yamamoto to debut her first men’s collection alongside her latest women’s lineup.

“The process of creating the men’s patterns and designing for men’s was endless joy, so I thought my root is in [menswear] but I didn’t really have a chance or I was looking for the right timing to rebuild,” Park said about entering the category. “So, revisiting the previous collection and archives, and using that detail as a part of the inspiration for this season and then going back to my roots in menswear was everything.”

Menswear inspiration was seen across men’s and women’s styles. Park stuck true to her attention to detail and craft for modern, subdued silhouettes that homed in on her established design codes. For women, the inspiration came through in an oversize pin-striped suit and a tweed structured jacket paired with a maxi skort that were both well executed and gave off an effortless feel.

The designer leveraged her archives to give her men’s line the same meticulous design she’s become known for in her women’s collections. She created a new version of her Ayaka dress shirt in organic cotton and wool and designed a new “inside out” coat to put emphasis on the smaller details.

She also continued her affinity for uniform dressing this season, creating a new version of her cropped jacket accented with a white poplin dress shirt and a flared skort.

“I love the uniform because it’s very familiar when working with designers like Yohji,” she said. “They are always eager to create their uniform silhouette — that’s their main goal of doing the designing work. So, I constantly looked for which silhouette could be my language and then project it clearly. I thought this is my silhouette.”

Park’s fall 2024 collection showed her continued ability to bring newness to her core silhouettes, as well as giving an exciting preview of how she can expand her design codes to the men’s category.
