ATL's Usher Opens Chicken Eatery: 5 New Businesses To Know In GA
GEORGIA — In a series of firsts, Georgia has welcomed a famous hot chicken eatery and will meet a brand new veterinarian office.
These are two of the new businesses that call the Peach State home.
Patch is giving readers a cheat sheet regarding five new businesses that have recently opened or will open in Georgia.
They are as follows:
Dave's Hot Chicken, Conyers
Where: 1447 Highway 138 SE
Product or Service: Chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese, milkshakes, chicken sliders, kale slaw and fries
Legendary singer and Atlanta native Usher opened Georgia's first Dave's Hot Chicken Thursday.
“Once I tried Dave’s Hot Chicken and spoke with the founders of the brand, I knew I wanted to be involved with the company,” Usher said in a previous statement to Billboard. “I’m excited to open Atlanta’s first Dave’s Hot Chicken and look forward to everyone from my hometown trying it.”
Usher, whose real name is Usher Raymond IV, is franchise partners with Lawrence Kourie and Andrew Feghali, Billboard said.
Pink Chicken, Savannah
Where: 216 W. Broughton St.
Product or Service: Women and children's apparel and accessories
Grand opening: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday
Hours of operation: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday
Pink Chicken was founded by Stacey Fraser and focuses on "vintage roots" and "happy mixes of color and patterns," according to the boutique's website. Seasonal options, including Halloween, are available.
Nan Thai, Buckhead
Where: 1350 Spring Street NW
Product or Service: Crispy okra, Thai cucumber salad, grilled lamb chops, grilled lemongrass chicken breast, braised lamb shank, pan-seared Tiger prawns, grilled salmon, soups, and salads
Amenities: Reservations, private and group dining
Hours of operation: 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday-Friday (lunch); 5:30-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday (dinner); 5:30-11 p.m. Friday (dinner); 5-11 p.m. Saturday (dinner); and 5-10 p.m. Sunday
Chai Yo Modern Thai Executive Chef and Owner DeeDee Niyomkul will open Nan Thai in October, according to a company news release.
“This is my way of honoring my parents’ iconic Nan Thai brand,”Niyomkul said in the release. “We’ll be introducing some of my mother’s, Chef Nan's, favorite dishes to our guests in Buckhead.”
Nan Thai will also honor Niyomkul's father who died of COVID-19 at age 70, the company said in the release.
Boarding Pass Coffee, Alpharetta
Where: 360 Commerce St.
Product or Service: Online shop featuring merchandise and coffee subscriptions, catering, tastings, a brew guide, composting guidelines
Murilo and Christine Santos opened its first Boarding Pass Coffee seven years after meeting, according to the company website. The Alpharetta location opened on Aug. 28, according to a company news release. Its specialty coffee comes from Murilo Santos' family farm in Brazel, according to its website.
“Our goal is to bring the taste of global coffees to Alpharetta and inspire people to explore the world through our flavors and experiences,” Christine Santos said in the release. “A vibrant, welcoming and family-friendly destination, ACC is the ideal place to expand our growing footprint around metro Atlanta. We’re not just brewing coffee, we're creating a community space where customers are encouraged to try new things and connect with their neighbors on a daily basis.”
Bond Vet, West Midtown
Where: 1000 Marietta St.
Product or Service: Veterinary care including urgent care, surgeries, dental services, puppy and kitten visits, telehealth, pharmacy and travel certificates
Amenities: Online swag shop
Hours of Operation: Closed Monday, Saturday and Sunday; 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday-Friday
Bond Vet's West Midtown is the first of three Georgia locations the veterinarian office will open. The vet is also planning sites at Roswell Road in Buckhead and Cleburne Terrace in the Ponce area. A grand opening celebration is set from noon-2 p.m. Sunday. Adoptable puppies, pet portraits, face paintings, a facility tour, raffles and giveaways will be available at the event, according to the company news release.
