Audrey Roloff opens up about keeping a healthy marriage: 'The investment is worth it'
Audrey Roloff is getting real about how to maintain a healthy marriage.
On Tuesday, the "Little People, Big World" star shared an Instagram Reel of her and her husband, Jeremy Roloff, sharing their drinks in a dimly lit restaurant, paired with a detailed caption explaining the importance of committing to a weekly date night and the impact it has had on her life.
The pair tied the knot back in 2014 and have since welcomed a daughter, Ember, 5, and two sons, Bode, 2, and Radley, 1.
"POV: You start the year with three kids, four and under, run multiple businesses together and buy a fixer-upper in the country, but decide this is the year to commit to a weekly date night," the on-screen text reads in the video. "Week 45/52.
"When you make a commitment that you know will be hard and cause sacrifices in other areas of your life. And every week, there are a million noble excuses you could make to cancel... And some weeks you have to. But you don't give up because you fall behind. You make up for them, because you know the investment is worth it."
Roloff explained that even when life has gotten hectic and it would have been easy to cancel their standing date, they've managed to say "'no' to plenty of other things in order to hold to this commitment."
"Some of those things are good things and hard sacrifices to make," she admitted. "But we believe that the health of our marriage will influence the health of our home and life more than anything else will."
Fans met Roloff's post with applause for "sharing the secret" to a happy, healthy marriage.
"Thank you for sharing the secret to the success of your marriage! Making time for each other even when life is busy is so important and keeps the spark alive!" one Instagram user commented.
Another added: "The commitment is definitely worth it and you guys got this! It's also a beautiful thing to show your children that you guys prioritize each other and spending time with each other."
"This is amazing! Thanks for sharing," a fan wrote.
"It is so worth it!" someone else shared. "My husband and I have been going on weekly dates for the majority of our marriage!"
One person penned: "So wonderful to see the commitment you made to each other is still going strong."
In July, Roloff shared another candid Instagram video about her family life. The 31-year-old opened up about one of her postpartum struggles: breastfeeding.
In the clip, Roloff showed off lactation stains on her tank top from breastfeeding her youngest son, Radley, alongside text that read: "I have an 8-month-old baby, but this still happens every time I nurse him."
"Shouldn't this stop after the first few months?! I'm eight months into nursing my third baby and yet, here we are," she captioned the post. "This happens every time I nurse without pads. In the last pic, I was sitting when that happened. My boobs aren't that low... yet. It's especially cute when I forget the nursing pads for date night. Any other mamas relate?! #nursing #breastfeeding #breastfeedingmom #motherhood #momlife."
The video was quickly met with applause for "normalizing the breastfeeding struggle," and for being "highly relatable."
"Does it ever stop doing that? #nursingpadsforlife," an Instagram user joked, while another added, "Girl, I'm going on 18 months and it still happens almost every single time."
"Girl you aren't alone... This was me for a really long time with each kid, too," someone else added.
"This is highly relatable," one person wrote. "Thank you for normalizing the breastfeeding struggle. People need to learn!"
