Avan Jogia is in the Running to Star in Aladdin
Yesterday it was reported that Disney's live-action Aladdin is having some trouble finding its Aladdin. Apparently, they're having a hard time finding a middle eastern actor that can sing and dance, which is patently ridiculous and has Twitter scratching their heads because, like, there are just so many options.
Are they really out here claiming it's hard to find an actor of Middle Eastern/South Asian descent who can act and sing to play Aladdin?!!!

And now it looks like the folks behind the movie may be coming to their senses because, according to TMZ, a fan favorite actor for the role - former Victorious star Avan Jogia - is officially in the running for the lead role.
Sources close to Avan told TMZ he's submitted an audition tape to the director Guy Ritchie that included Avan singing a song from the musical. Apparently it was impressive because now he's reportedly in the running to land the lead role. Which would obiously be PERFECT. I mean, come on:
