This Aventura shopping complex is expanding with new stores and cafes. Here’s the list

Once a Sears store, Esplanade at Aventura continues to grow next to the thriving Aventura Mall.

The 215,000-square-foot complex at 19505 Biscayne Blvd., owned and managed separately from the better-known mall, recently announced several newly opened and future tenants that will take up more than a tenth of its space.

Among the newbies: A LEGO Store, STK Steakhouse and The Salty.

“We are blown away by how the community has embraced Esplanade at Aventura since our first tenant opened last year,” Eric Dinenberg, COO of parent company Seritage Growth Properties, said in a statement. “With the opening of these amazing brands and additional tenant announcements coming soon, Esplanade at Aventura will be the premier destination for all-day dining, shopping, entertainment, fitness and wellness.”

“We chose Aventura because it’s a dynamic, fast-growing area with a sophisticated clientele that appreciates high-quality dining experiences,” Emanuel “Manny” Hilario, president and CEO of parent company The One Group told the Miami Herald in November.

About the Esplanade

The Esplanade was originally a 12.3-acre plot that housed a Sears, a Sears Auto Center and their parking lots adjacent to the Aventura Mall. As long ago as 2014, plans were conceived to demolish the struggling department store and build a mall in its place.

The Sears, among the first stores in business when the Aventura Mall opened in 1983, was torn down in 2017.

The Esplanade opened next to the Aventura Mall in 2023 and it’s surrounded by the same perimeter road just east of Biscayne Boulevard.

But despite being adjacent neighbors, the malls don’t allow shoppers to access one complex from the other without going outside into the parking lot and walking to and from separate entrances.
