Avril Lavigne stunned fans with her "timeless" look at the MTV Video Music Awards in Newark, New Jersey on Sunday night.

The "Sk8er Boi" singer walked the 2022 VMAs red carpet alongside boyfriend, Mod Sun. The Canadian singer turned heads in an all-black ensemble that fans are dubbing "extremely on-brand" for the "pop-punk princess." Lavigne rocked a pair of black, oversized cargo pants with a chain dangling from her belt loops, a black, long-sleeve top with corset detailing, and her signature black smokey-eye makeup.

Lavigne was nominated for the Award for Best Alternative Video — which Italian group Maneskin took home.

Photos of the 37-year-old's stunning look have garnered applause from fans who loved to see "old Avril vibes."

Lavigne attended the 2021 VMAs last summer for the first time since she took a five-year hiatus from music due to a private battle with Lyme disease. The singer made her return to music this year with the release of her latest album, "Love Sux."

"I spent the last few years at home sick, fighting Lyme disease. Those were the worst years of my life as I went through both physical and emotional battles. I was able to turn that fight into music I'm really proud of," she penned in a letter to fans on her website.

According to Lavigne, her loyal fanbase and her passion for music were crucial in helping her conquer some of the most trying days of her illness.

"I wrote songs in my bed and on the couch and recorded there mostly as well. Words and lyrics that were so true to my experience came pouring out of me effortlessly," she explained. "Truly... by keeping my spirits up, having goals to reach and a purpose to live for, my music helped to heal me and keep me alive."
