Canadian icon Avril Lavigne shows off hockey skills in new post: 'Sk8er girl'

The Canadian-born singer guided Yung Blood in his ice skating debut.

Avril Lavigne is reminding fans her Canadian roots run deep.

Over the weekend, the "Sk8er Boi" singer delighted fans with an impressive Instagram video of herself from a recently released "Carpool Karaoke" episode. It took place at an indoor ice rink, showing off her hockey skills alongside fellow pop-punk artist Yung Blood.

In the clip, Lavigne assisted Yung Blood in making his ice skating debut by patiently holding his hands and guiding him across the ice to prevent any spills.

"You're doing really good!," she told him before releasing his hands and showing off a few more advanced maneuvers.

"You're like an ice wizard!," Yung Blood said to the Canadian pop-punk icon. He was surprised by Lavigne's hidden talent, adding "Where did you come from?!"

Lavigne replied: "Canada!"

The 38-year-old included a caption describing her unbreakable bond with the Great White North.

"You can take the girl out of Canada, but you can’t take Canada out of the girl," Lavigne penned with a Canadian flag, hockey stick and net emoji. "Teaching [Yung Blood] how to play hockey on 'Carpool Karaoke.'"

Lavigne's post quickly garnered praise for proudly embracing her Canadian heritage.

"I love how you stay true to yourself no matter what. Canada is so proud of you!" an Instagram user commented.

"Canada's pop-punk queen!" added another.

One person wrote: "This is literally so amazing."

"She was a sk8er girl," a fan quipped.

Earlier this month, the "Complicated" singer took to Instagram with footage from CMA Fest 2023, where she gave a surprise performance alongside country music star Miranda Lambert.

The unexpected duo posed in matching, tassel-clad, black and hot pink outfits after sharing a stage at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn.

Lambert shocked fans after inviting her new "bestie" to perform their respective early-2000s hits, "Sk8er Boi" and "Kerosene."

"CMA Fest 'Kerosene' x 'Sk8er Boi,'" Lavigne penned alongside the post.
