'Bachelorette' Jenn Tran says she's seen messages ex-fiancé allegedly sent to other women: 'There's no excusing that behaviour'

The 26-year-old spoke to Kaitlyn Bristowe about her public break-up — and why she'll never give ex Devin Strader another chance.

Bachelorette star Jenn Tran is doing her best to move on following her breakup from Devin Strader. Despite proposing to Strader on the season 26 finale of the dating show, the 26-year-old physician's assistant student and 28-year-old freight company owner broke off their engagement before the final episodes even aired. Tran, who will compete in the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars, spoke to former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe on a recent episode of Off The Vine about life after her public breakup.

Here's everything we learned from the interview.

Tran became a fan-favourite when she bravely watched her proposal to Strader in front of a studio audience during a taping of the After the Final Rose special. While some fans called producers cruel for having the Bachelorette watch what she had hoped was going to be part of her happily ever after, Tran told Bristowe she was "walked through every single part" of what would happen during the taping.

"I said, 'I need him to watch all those moments that we lived together,'" she explained. "Because throughout the whole breakup, I feel like he was kind of dismissing the fact that he had led me to believe all these like proclamations of love that he had made for me."

Tran said she initially gave Strader the benefit of the doubt and chose to overlook the not-so-subtle red flags that her relationship might not be heading to the altar. The Los Angeles-based star said she attributed Strader's distant behaviour to the fact that he had never been in a long-distance relationship before. Tran said Strader, who lives in Miami, would go upwards of 18 hours without contacting her.

"There were so many scenarios going on in my head during that time I was like, 'Does he not love me anymore? Is he cheating on me?'" she said, adding that she forgave him each time.

When pressed for details, Tran said Strader blamed his sleep schedule being off from the show as the reason he wasn't contacting her.

Although the Bachelor and Bachelorette producers arrange opportunities for the lead and their partners to spend time together, it's not uncommon for couples to secretly plan their own meet-ups.

"He wasn't putting an effort into our relationship," Tran said. "We never had a date night in the time that we were what like long distance. Yes, we had these happy couples but he never was like, 'Oh let's just get on the phone and like talk' or 'Let's get on the phone and do this together it'd be fun." We never did that in the two months after the show that we were dating."

Tran said she offered to pay for plane tickets so that they could see each other — but he declined.

Tran says that women have approached her claiming that Strader messaged them on on social media. "I've seen some of the messages," Tran said. "I think that's the most hurtful part. What was your game plan all along?"

When they ended their engagement, Tran said Strader told her that he was taking time to work on himself — and kind of left the door open for a future reunion.

"I don't even know who he is anymore," she said.

Tran reached out to Strader after the finale aired and wished him the best. However, once women came forward claiming that he had been messaging them, Tran decided to completely wash her hands of their relationship.

"There's no excusing for (sic) that behaviour," she said. "I'm done."
