The Bape Shark Sta is Worth Snapping Up
Bape excels when it concurrently looks forward and back: when it focuses on advancing its products whilst preserving the spirit of its noughties zenith – a time when the Japanese streetwear label was helmed by its founder, Nigo.
Its brand-new trainer, the Shark Sta, strikes the perfect balance.
The modish model has been created to observe the 20th anniversary of one of the brand's hero products: the Shark Hoodie.
It's a shoe more premium and original than the outfit's previous footwear designs.
A stratified upper fashioned in the image of a shark's mouth using conspicuously considered layers – shiny patent leather, soft suede and so on – is joint by a sturdy, chunky sole to form footwear chic, sleek and sensible enough to replace your current go-tos.

In April, the razor sharp silhouette was teased by lionised fashion designer Don C. The Chicagoan received the USA colourway (Lakers-inspired bar the hit of Chicago red on the midsole) from the Country Pack, as well as the 'grey' and the 'black' from the Core Pack which has a later release date.
In June, British rapper Central Cee stepped out at Paris Fashion Week in a pair inspired by the French flag.
There are 11 colourways in total in the Country Pack which lands this weekend.
Neutral colourways like beige are confirmed to accompany the monochromatic colourways in the Core Pack confirmed to launch in just a few weeks' time.
Our favourite iteration of the Shark Sta revealed thus far? (Why, thanks for asking.) It's got to be the Great Britains.
Seriously! They're veritably Great, and ironically reminiscent of the super coveted Captain America Bape Stas of 2005.
The Shark Sta Country Pack is available from Saturday 5 October on Bape's website and in London's Bape store in Mayfair. The Shark Sta Core Pack is coming soon.
