The Golden Globe voting committee are big fans of The Bear, the hit FX series that has taken multiple honors at tonight’s celebration including Best Comedy Series and Best Actor and Actress in a Comedy Series for Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri, respectively.

Lionel Boyce, who plays Marcus on the show, accepted the award on behalf of the group taking the opportunity to thank the restaurant community.

“I want to say most importantly, thank you to the restaurant community. We play these characters for a couple of months of the year but this is your reality, the highs and the lows. Thank you for embracing us while we tell your stories,” Boyce said.

Season 2 of The Bear premiered in June and was renewed for a third season by FX in November. Production is expected to begin in February.

Season 1 of the series follows Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, a young chef from the fine dining world, who comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop – The Original Beef of Chicagoland – after a heartbreaking death in his family. A world away from what he’s used to, Carmy must balance the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff, and his strained familial relationships, all while grappling with the impact of his brother’s suicide.

Season 2 follows the gang as they transform their grimy sandwich joint into a next-level spot. As they stripped the restaurant down to its bones, the crew undertook transformational journeys of their own, each forced to confront the past and reckon with who they want to be in the future.

Up next, The Bear is heading to the Emmys on January 15 to compete in 13 categories including Outstanding Comedy Series.
