Bellingham’s January events: Wedding show, trivia, ski lessons, live music and more on tap

January has arrived, and here is your monthly roundup of key Bellingham events, festivals, trivia nights and live music this month. For a complete list of local events, visit bellinghamherald.com/events.

Bellingham events

Open Roller Skate is back at The Depot from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10. The free event is open to all ages. Participants must bring their own skates, knee pads and other skating accessories. Open Roller Skate is at Depot Market Square, 1100 Railroad Ave.

American Alpine Institute will host a Ski Wax and Tuning Clinic from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16. The clinic costs $30 per person, and includes instruction on how to prepare skis and snowboards for the snow. Registration is required online in advance. American Alpine Institute is at 4041 Home Rd. in Bellingham.

The Bellingham Winter Wedding Show at Mount Baker Theatre will showcase a variety of local wedding vendors and “signature wedding show cocktails” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19. Tickets costs $12 and can be purchased online or at the theater. Mount Baker Theatre is at 104 N Commercial St. in Bellingham.

Ski Dattle, a cross-country ski lesson, will take participants through Salmon Ridge SnoPark Trails from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25. Registration costs range from $20-$40 for admission and a shuttle to and from the trails. Participants must register online in advance.

Stones Throw Brewery is hosting “Good Neighbor Night” from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, a fundraising event for Whatcom Street Medicine. During the event, 10% of revenue will be donated to the non-profit that provides medical care and healthcare services across Whatcom County to people unable to afford care, on the streets and in homeless camps. Stones Throw Brewery is at 1009 Larrabee Ave. in Bellingham.

Live music in Bellingham

The Aslan Brewing Co. Depot welcomes local artists throughout the month. For the music lineup, check the schedule online. Aslan Brewing Co. Depot is at 1322 N. State St.

Kulshan Brewing Company’s various breweries are hosting live music all month. For the music lineup and locations, check the schedule online.

The Blue Room, a live music and event venue, regularly hosts live performers and performances, including jazz nights, local artists, and improv nights. Tickets are available online in advance. The Blue Room is at 202 E. Holly St.

The Shakedown, a live music venue and bar, regularly hosts live music and performers. Tickets are available online in advance. The Shakedown is at 1212 N State St.

Wild Buffalo House of Music, a live music and event venue, regularly hosts live music and performers. Tickets are available online in advance. Wild Buffalo House of Music is at 208 W. Holly St.
