Ben & Jerry’s is giving away free ice cream cones. Here’s when and what to know
Ben & Jerry’s is saying “thank you” to fans with free scoops of ice cream.
The annual free cone day event returns Tuesday, April 16, at participating Ben & Jerry’s scoop shops nationwide from noon until 8 p.m. local time, the Vermont-based creamery said in a news release.
Ice cream fans can hop in line as many times as they like, and no purchase is necessary.
Ben & Jerry’s launched the one-day giveaway in 1979 as their “fledgling ice cream shop” weathered its first Vermont winter, according to the release.
“The company’s co-founders knew it wasn’t possible without the fans, so Free Cone Day was born as an annual day of gratitude – and 45 years later, Ben & Jerry’s is still going strong, serving up chunky, funky flavors all across the U.S. and 35 countries globally,” it said.
Ben & Jerry’s said it hopes to give away at least 1 million scoops worldwide. Fans can choose from a variety of flavors, including classics like chocolate and vanilla or newer creations like PB S’more and Marshmallow Sky.
Non-dairy and gluten-free options are also available, according to Ben & Jerry’s website.
