Beyoncé goes the vintage route for a special Destiny's Child reunion
While Beyhive loses their mind over securing tickets in the presale for the Cowboy Carter Tour, Beyoncé is busy living her life and reuniting with her Destiny’s Child bandmates.
Last night, the superstar shared a series of photos from Kelly Rowland’s 44th birthday celebration on Instagram. The first picture captured Beyoncé, Rowland, and Michelle Williams with their arms wrapped around each other. “Birthday bestie,” she wrote in the caption.
Naturally, the trio celebrated in style. Rowland wore a dark blue velvet halter-neck gown with a daring backless design, while Williams shimmered in a ruby sequinned gown with a ruched side-leg slit. As for Beyoncé, the Protector singer went the vintage route, pulling out a black Patrick Kelly mini dress that oozed with power. The long-sleeved piece featured sharp, padded shoulders and a basque waist accented by a embroidered arrangement of shiny gold buttons. Beyoncé capped off the look with a pop of colour via a bright red lip and a pair of sculptural gold statement earrings.
Beyoncé previously spoke about her lasting friendships with Rowland and Williams in an interview for Harper’s Bazaar US September 2021 cover story.
“My closest friends are brilliant women who run companies, are entrepreneurs, mothers, wives, and close family,” she said at the time. “Kelly [Rowland] and Michelle [Williams] are still my best friends.” She also gave a shoutout to her younger sister: “I gravitate toward strong, grounded women like my incredible sister, Solange. She is full of wisdom, and she is the dopest person I know.”
She went on to explain how fame has helped strengthen her bonds with her closest friends. “In this business, so much of your life does not belong to you unless you fight for it. I’ve fought to protect my sanity and my privacy because the quality of my life depended on it,” Beyoncé said. “A lot of who I am is reserved for the people I love and trust. Those who don’t know me and have never met me might interpret that as being closed off. Trust, the reason those folks don’t see certain things about me is because my Virgo ass does not want them to see it....It’s not because it doesn’t exist!”
