A Billionaire’s Revamped South Florida Penthouse Splashes Onto the Market for $39 Million

It’s been barely two years since Adam Weitsman picked up a chic turnkey penthouse in the Miami suburb of Sunny Isles Beach after spotting photos of it on Instagram. Now, after a multimillion-dollar transformation, the scrap-metal mogul and crypto entrepreneur is already looking to find a new owner for his coastal retreat with a substantial bump in price, asking $39 million.

The owner and CEO of New York-based Upstate Shredding—one of the East Coast’s largest privately owned scrap-metal processors and recyclers, with annual revenues of around $750 million—made an offer on the unit sight unseen, per The Wall Street Journal, then inked a deal after viewing it in person for the first time. Originally offered for nearly $30 million in fall 2021, he wound up paying a discounted $23.5 million for the residence about six months later, in March 2022.

Occupying the top two floors of Jade Signature—a 57-story beachfront luxury condo tower designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, and completed in 2018 by Fortune International Group—the revamped abode offers six bedrooms and 10 baths in almost 12,000 square feet of fully furnished living space boasting marble floors, high ceilings, walnut millwork and designer lighting throughout. Floor-to-ceiling walls of glass and over 7,500 square feet of covered wraparound terraces also offer up sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean, Intracoastal Waterway and Miami skyline.

Highlights include an elevator-accessible vestibule that leads via double wood entry doors to an open-concept great room holding a living and dining area equipped with a wet bar and wine cellar that connects to a lounge space. There’s also a sleek all-white kitchen sporting an eat-in island, top-tier Gaggenau and Sub-Zero appliances, and an accompanying breakfast nook, along with an opulent two-level primary suite featuring dual sitting areas, dressing rooms and baths, plus a gym, sauna and steam room.

Elsewhere is an entertainment lounge outfitted with a billiards table and an office space adorned with built-in shelving, as well as an outdoor plunge pool and barbecue station. Topping it all off are plenty of community amenities—courtesy of a hefty $18,848 monthly HOA charge—which include a water therapy terrace with three lap pools set at different temperatures, wellness center, juice bar, library and business center, beach access and four covered garage spaces.

The 55-year-old entrepreneur—who also owns the crypto mining company Viridium—maintains a primary residence in Skaneateles, N.Y., where he and his wife Kim operate several restaurants, including Hidden Fish, The Krebs, and Elephant and the Dove. According to the New York Post, the couple also paid hedge-fund billionaire John Paulson $5 million in 2022 for an Upper East Side mansion that was originally listed at $24.5 million.

The listing is held by Chad Carroll with The Carroll Group at Compass.
