Season 13 of the hit CBS drama is still a few weeks away, but the latest Blue Bloods teaser already has fans on the edge of their seats. The shocking new clip shows a member of the close-knit family getting shot in the line of duty.
At the end of season 12, Erin (Bridget Moynahan) announced that she's finally going after the DA job, but it sounds like she's not the only Reagan in for a career change. Jamie (Will Estes) has been working in the same precinct as his wife, Eddie (Vanessa Ray), but their new commanding officer, Sgt. McNichols (Stephanie Kurtzuba) insists that one of them gets reassigned. Showrunner Kevin Wade told TVLine, "It was brought up when Jamie and Eddie got married, that though there is no law on the books, is it is against the rule of custom for spouses to work together in a precinct. But they have a new commanding officer this season, who as soon as she sees them says, ‘One of you is going to transfer by the end of the day.'"
To solve this situation, Jamie is transferred to the Intelligence Unit as a Field Information Officer, a position that involves a lot of secrecy. TV Insider reports, "Jamie is shot during a domestic violence situation by a felon released under Crawford. The shooter is connected to investigations under way by Frank’s grandson, undercover agent Joe Hill (Will Hochman), and Danny, not to mention a missing witness in a trial Erin is prosecuting."
CBS shared a new teaser that shows the intense event unfold. They captioned the post, " In this line of work — ANYTHING can happen." The video shows Jamie being shot and Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) yelling his name and running to his aid. Fans quickly commented their messages of concern: "Nooooo don’t hurt Jamie 😢😢😢," "Omgggg cannnooot wait but NOT JAMIE! 😩," "Do not hurt my Jamie! Can’t wait! 💙"
Other devoted fans are quick to point out that Jamie is adamant about wearing a bullet-proof vest, so he will likely survive the shooting: "He has his vest on, relax he’s fine…." and "Jamie will be OK ... remember Sgt Reagan is a stickler for wearing a vest. And @bluebloods_cbs ... there's no need to get millions of young girls to cry and lose sleep ... we're going to watch! 💙💙💙😰😰"
We'll have to wait to see how this all pans out! The Reagan family drama will return on October 7 in its normal Friday night time slot. Tune in on CBS or stream on Paramount+.
