Bobby Cannavale reveals he named his son after a tennis star

Bobby Cannavale and Rose Byrne became parents for the second time in November following the arrival of their son, who they named Rafa. The Boardwalk Empire star opened up about his bundle of joy and the heartfelt inspiration behind his name in a new interview with People.

“I hadn’t given one of my children a Latin name yet, so I wanted to honour my mom’s side of the family,” said the actor, whose mother Isabel Cannavale hails from Cuba. But why Rafa? Well, Bobby and Rose’s love of tennis played a part in the name game. “Rafael Nadal had such a great year and we were constantly keeping up with him and watching all his matches so we were like, ‘How about Rafa? That goes well with Rocco.’ And that was it.”

After welcoming his first son Rocco in 2016, Bobby has had no problem settling into fatherhood. Speaking to E! News, the actor admitted, “I love being a dad. I’d do it full-time if I didn’t have to make a living.” But he’s not in it alone and added that Rose is “doing great. She’s doing wonderful.”

It’s no surprise that Rose and Bobby’s family is so tight knit. Their own parents have played a huge role in making Rafa and Rocco’s early memories ones to be cherished! Early last year, the X-Men actress was joined by her Australian parents Robin and Jane for an outing with baby Rocco in New York City. The quad was spotted happily wandering around downtown Manhattan together.

Rose and Bobby have two children together.
