Bobby Flay’s three decades as a professional chef have taken a physical toll on him.

During a July interview with the Wall Street Journal, the Food Network star opened up about his favorite workout routine — and how it has helped heal his posture after years of hunching over in the kitchen.

“There’s basically three parts to it. It’s some kind of cardio for 30 to 45 minutes, like running outside on [New York City's] West Side Highway or in the gym on a treadmill if the weather’s really bad,” he said.

He then revealed why he’s “really into pilates,” too.

“Standing hunched over a cutting board for 35 years, I put a very decent curve in my spine,” said Flay, 59. “Pilates has reversed it and made my posture so much better, and it helps me stretch."

He completes his workout with body weight exercises like sit ups and push ups.

Despite the physical side effects from professionally cooking for much of his life, Flay is nowhere close to being done. In fact, he told WSJ there’s one fellow celebrity chef who’s still on his list to compete against.

Gordon Ramsay. There’s been chatter about that for 15 years. One day it’s going to happen,” he said.

The star of BBQ Brawl and Bobby’s Triple Threat caught up with PEOPLE at the 2024 American Century Championship golf tournament where he put his fitness to the test on the green.

“I love to play golf, I love Lake Tahoe. I mean, it's a great week here. With so much going on in my life, it's always nice to get out to a beautiful place like this for four or five hours,” he told PEOPLE.

Sophie, 28, who’s a reporter with ABC7 in Los Angeles, was eager to join her father on his European trip.

"She claimed to be my plus one about two seconds after I got the invite," Flay told PEOPLE. "Sophie knows everybody at the Olympics, because she's worked it twice. So she knows all the NBC people over there. So I'm basically going to be following Sophie around."
