Ladies, it’s time to toss out your bobby pins. The latest hair trend to explode on the Internet involves a needle and thread.

Ever since the Alexander McQueen ready-to-wear show earlier this week in Paris, all anyone has been talking about is hair sewing. Models walking the runway at McQueen wore messy, romantic updos created by Guido Palau, Global Creative Director for Redken. Using a needle and thread, Palau stitching together strands of hair to create really interesting, piecey updos.

“You know when you’re sewing something on a machine and then you pull the thread and the whole thing ruches? That’s what we’re doing to the hair,” Palau explained.
