A Body Language Expert Analyzes Prince William Amid Kate Middleton's Photoshop Scandal and the Results Are Telling
Due to the royals' philosophy of "never complain, never explain," Prince William had to awkwardly attend Commonwealth Day pretty much directly after Kate Middleton issued an apology for her glaring use of photoshop. In other words, all eyes were on William as the internet was busy debating Kate's whereabouts and spiraling over some bricks.
Naturally, body language experts have been called in to do their thing!
During a conversation with the Sun, body language expert Judi James noted that William's smile did not look "authentic." Additionally, his grin seemed to be "fixed firmly in place" *and* the "over-lifting of the top lip [suggested] effort rather than spontaneity."
James also opined that Prince William "was straightening his tie with one hand, which formed a barrier-excuse ritual, meaning the slight feeling of self-protection that comes from lifting the arm up in front of the body during moments of pressure."
However, once Will was with his family — including Queen Camilla and Princess Anne —, everyone was eager to "project fondness" and "mutual support." Apparently, the royal "signaled confidence and authority" in this moment, and while "kissing his uncle Edward on either cheek, he patted and squeezed his arm in a display of affection before standing with his legs splayed and rising up and down on his heels."
I mean, the royal family is obviously under a lot of pressure with King Charles' health and the conspiracy theories surrounding Kate Middleton, so none of this is exactly shocking!
