The Boise area is a growing hot spot for tourists. A new hotel could help the region adapt

The secret has been out about the Boise area for several years, but the Treasure Valley’s popularity has continued to soar.

With an influx of new residents and tourists since the COVID-19 pandemic, Southwest Idaho has made several landings on the glossy pages of publications including National Geographic and the Wall Street Journal.

Hoteliers have, at times, struggled to keep up. Cody Lund, the executive director of the Boise Centre, previously told the Idaho Statesman that the convention center continues to see more demand than the Boise area has hotel rooms for.

A new extended stay hotel in Eagle could relieve some of the pressure.

The 131-room Residence Inn Eagle Boise by Marriott at 515 S. Palmetto Ave. is getting set to open Oct. 29 as part of Eagle’s Molinari Park development between State Highway 44 and Plaza Drive, roughly a three-minute drive west of State Highway 55.

“Its location along routes 44 and 55 makes it the perfect base for guests to explore local attractions like the Eagle Island State Park, Boise River Greenbelt and the nearby foothills,” according to a news release.

The hotel offers 91 studio suites with king-sized beds, 24 one-bedroom suites with two queen-sized beds, 12 one-bedroom units with single kings and four two-bedroom suites with one king and one queen-sized bed, according to Gwen Lytle, the hotel’s general manager.

Prices vary depending on demand and availability, but standard rates for a random November weekend for non-Marriott members range from $199 per night for a studio unit to $359 for a two-bedroom suite, according to the hotel’s booking website.

The hotel comes from Ohio-based hospitality investment firm Rockbridge and Georgia- and Florida-based AMS Hospitality, in partnership with Utah’s GWC Capital, which is behind Eagle’s 7,100-home Valnova development.

“We firmly believe that the addition of this hotel, and the Molinari Park development as a whole, will be of great benefit to the people and city of Eagle, bringing new jobs, quality housing and purposeful design,” said John Cooper, chief development officer of AMS hospitality, in the news release.

Amenities include in-room kitchens, complimentary breakfast, free parking, a fitness center, indoor pool and 3,000 square feet of meeting space.

The hotel and Eagle Chamber of Commerce have scheduled a ribbon-cutting and grand-opening ceremony from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, and guests can stay there starting Thursday, Oct. 31.
