‘Bonkers’ house for sale in Minnesota. Take a look at the ‘mid-century mausoleum’
A home with a curious interior is turning heads on a popular social media real estate page.
It’s known as “The Marble House” for a reason, and the three-bedroom, three-bathroom house has listed for $849,000 in Rochester, Minnesota. Almost every square inch of this residence is covered in, well, marble.
“This architectural masterpiece features the perfect balance of original art deco style and modern day features to create a new age of Great Gatsby glamour,” the listing on Zillow.com says.
“Located within walking distance to St. Mary’s Hospital, this California style marble showstopper boasts over 20 different types of high end marble, many imported from Italy and Europe.”
Features of the house, per the listing, include:
Patio
Grill area
Putting green
Two-car garage
Private driveway
Sauna
The 2,394-square-foot interior caught the attention of fans of Zillow Gone Wild, a Facebook page and X (formerly Twitter) account that highlights interesting homes for sale. People were a little perplexed.
“I just hit my head on every surface twice,” one person joked on Facebook.
“I’m cold just looking at this,” another observed.
“Finally, a house where my kids can always hear me yell for them thanks to the amazing acoustics!” someone said.
“Mid-century Mausoleum,” one person called it.
“The roller skating potential is amazing,” another noted.
“You can’t have pets if you live here, but you can have roller derby parties!” someone commented.
“I’m not mad at the sauna but no. This is bonkers,” one person posted on X.
“I would die so fast and so terribly in this house,” another said.
Rochester is about a 85-mile drive southeast of Minneapolis.
