A busy fall shaping up for community events in downtown Belleville. Here’s a schedule

Belleville residents will have plenty to do this fall in addition to the 43rd annual Belleville Oktoberfest on Sept. 20 and 21 and Belleville Chili Cook-Off on Oct. 11 and 12.

In recent months, the City Council approved the following:

ST TERESA PARISH PICNIC — St. Teresa Catholic Parish requested city services for its annual picnic from 4 to 11 p.m. Aug. 24.

BELLEVILLE INDIE MARKET — Belleville Indie Market requested street closures for its market from 6 to 10 p.m. Aug. 24. (Rain date is Aug. 25.)

LABOR DAY PARADE — Southwestern Illinois Central Labor Council requested city services and street closures for the Belleville Labor Day Parade from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 2.

LABOR DAY PICNIC — Southwestern Illinois Central Labor Council requested city services for the Belleville Labor Day Picnic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 2 in Hough Park.

PADERBORN SQUARE REDEDICATION — Belleville Sister Cities requested city services for its rededication of Paderborn Square on East Main Street from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Sept. 19.

HOWLIN’ HAYRIDE and MOONLIGHT MOVIE — Belleville Parks and Recreation requested city services for the Howlin’ Hayride and Moonlight Movie from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at Laderman Park with a hayride through Walnut Hill Cemetery.

WITCHES BREW WALK — Sugar High and Venue on Main requested city services and street closures for the Witches Brew Walk in the afternoon and evening of Oct. 17.

OUT OF DARKNESS COMMUNITY WALK — The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention requested city services and street closures for an Out of Darkness Community Walk from 8 to 11 a.m. Oct. 19.

DOWNTOWN HALLOWEEN TRICK-OR-TREAT — City officials requested city services and street closures for the Downtown Halloween Trick-or-Treat from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25; and use of Paderborn Square from 4 to 9 p.m.

RUMMAGEPALOOZA — Tapestry of Community Offerings (TOCO) requested city services for RummagePalooza 2024 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 26.

CRAFTS & CARS — Belleville Parks and Recreation requested city services for Crafts & Cars from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 26 in The Campus arena and tennis court parking lot.

ST. HENRY CATHOLIC CHURCH CENTENNIAL — St. Henry Catholic Church requested permission to place eight banners on light poles to commemorate its 100th anniversary, which will be celebrated from Nov. 1 through July 31, 2025.

VETERAN’S DAY CEREMONY — City officials requested city services and street closures for the Veteran’s Day Ceremony from 11 a.m. to noon Nov. 11 on the Public Square. (In case of inclement weather, it will be moved to City Hall.)

Aldermen also approved a request for city services and street closures for the Santa Parade from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 29 and for next year’s Art on the Square, which will be held 4 to 9 p.m. May 16, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 17 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 18.
