When it comes to the Omega MoonSwatch/Blancpain Scuaba Fifty Fathoms “bioceramic” Swatch collabs – now in their third year, and 35+ options! – the received wisdom was that Omega was where the colourful, fun stuff happened.

And Blancpain offered a more serious, grown-up take on proceedings.

That idea gets upended today with the surprise release of the Pink Ocean Scuba Fifty Fathoms, a follow-on from the all-black Ocean of Storms Fifty Fathoms Scuba, released last January. And the azure Blue Lagoon model that followed a month later.

This time the watch is presented in a clashing shock of pink and magenta.

Swatch says: “This collection comes in exclusive colours that were inspired by various nudibranchs. Nudibranchs inhabit the oceans and are known for their often-extraordinary colours and striking forms. Ceratodoris Rosacea, also known as Hopkin’s rose, is known for its vibrant pink colour.”

The case back of the new model features a digital print of pink water and the Ceratodoris Rosacea nudibranch. There are also five “inspirational inscriptions” on the back. “Passion for diving”; “Licence to Explore”; “Ocean Breath”; “Protect What You Love” and “Immerse Yourself”.

The strap is an appropriately pink and white two-piece Nato number, constructed from recycled fishing nets.

Elsewhere, the latest Scuba Fifty Fathoms sticks to the formula we know. The 42.3mm case, unidirectional rotating bezel and glowing Super-LumiNova on the hands, dial, and bezel. Like its predecessors, it is powered by Swatch’s Sistem 51 mechanical movement, which is visible through a transparent sapphire glass case back.

The watch costs £350 is available from today, at select Swatch stores. It is non-limited – though customers are restricted to one watch person per store and day.
