How Céline Dion’s First Big Public Event in 4 Years Went Behind the Scenes
Céline Dion had an incredible comeback at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards as she made a rare public appearance at the coveted awards show for the first time since 2019. Meaning: This marks Céline’s first major event since she was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome in 2022. The Queen of Power Ballads presented the biggest award of the night, Album of the Year, to Taylor Swift. She was also joined by her 23-year-old son, René-Charles Angélil, and met with standing ovations from the star-studded Grammys audience when she appeared onstage.
An insider opened up about Céline’s big night to People and provided an update on her health journey. “It was an amazing night for her. She’s doing well, and the hope is that she can continue to do more and ease back in,” the source dished. They continued, "“verybody was stopping her. She had a beautiful moment with Oprah and sang with Stevie Wonder. They were just riffing,” says the source. “Victoria Monét also stopped her. Everyone was so gracious.”
Law Roach also seemingly came out of retirement to dress her for the evening. The stylist even shared a sweet message for her on Instagram, writing, “This makes me so much Joy! Not just to dress my Queen again but the fact that she’s HEALTHY AND HAPPY! The UNIVERSE always PROTECTS and PROVIDES.” As he thanked fashion houses and jewelers like Valentino and Tiffany & Co., he continued, “And of course Thank you Celine for allowing me to share this triumphant moment with you.”
The “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” singer returned to the Grammys after announcing her upcoming Amazon Prime Video documentary, I Am: Céline Dion. The doc will provide an intimate look at Céline’s life after canceling her world tour amid her SPS diagnosis. “People will see everything she went through,” the insider told People. “She’s taking things step by step. [Her illness] is incurable, but she is honestly doing well and looks incredible.”
Honestly, so glad to see literal legend Céline Dion happy, healthy, and on the up-and-up. 🥹
