'Can I say Michelle Obama?': Tessa Virtue shares her ideal Valentine's Day
Tessa Virtue knows a thing or two about collecting Air Miles.
As the most decorated figure skater in Olympic history, the 29-year-old Canadian athlete has travelled the world competing with ice dancing partner Scott Moir.
Fresh off of the Thank You Canada Tour, Virtue has teamed up with airmilesshops.ca to introduce Canadians to a new way to shop online just in time for Valentine’s Day.
“Working with Air Miles is a dream,” Virtue said during a visit to Yahoo Canada’s Toronto studio. “I’ve always been obsessed with collecting miles. You can earn miles with all of these purchases that you would be making anyways for that friend, special someone or family member. I think it’s a great opportunity to show those around us that we care and also gather miles. I mean, hello? Let’s do both at the same time! It just makes perfect sense.”
For Virtue, Feb. 14 is a chance to celebrate love in all its forms.

“I think Valentine’s Day now is all encompassing,” she said. “It even includes self care and self love, so let’s treat ourselves and those around us.”

As for the gifts that make Virtue’s heart the happiest, her tastes are refreshingly simple.
“Some gifts that I love are candles, pj’s and cameras because I love the idea of collecting moments and memories,” Virtue explains. “I also love experiences – maybe it’s a night out having dinner or a trip, or a concert. I think it’s so nice to be sharing quality time together.”
