The 77th Cannes Film Festival might've seen a bit of red carpet drama amongst celebrities like singer Kelly Rowland and Dominican star Massiel Taveras, but lots of eye-catching fashion also graced the south of France.

This year, the 11-day festival wrapped on May 25, where female-centred stories won big. Filmmaker Sean Baker won the Palme d'Or for "Anora," making him the first American to win the festival's top prize since Terrence Malick won for "The Tree of Life" in 2011.

The festival's second-highest award, the Grand Prix, went to India's Payal Kapadia for "All We Imagine as Light." The jury also broadened the usual best actress category to honour "the harmony of sisterhood," according to Lily Gladstone, in "Emilia Pérez," starring Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez and Karla Sofía Gascón.

While lots of prizes went out on Saturday to some of the most anticipated movies of the year, which stars saw wins — or losses — with their fashion on the red carpet? We asked Yahoo Canada readers to vote for the best and worst dressed celebrities, including looks from Hollywood favourites like Emma Stone and Julianne Moore.

So, what did voters have to say about some of the fashion seen on the 2024 Cannes red carpet? Read on to see which celebs snagged the best dressed and worst dressed titles this year.

Demi Moore wore a glittering red beaded gown by Armani Privé for the "Kinds of Kindness" premiere on May 17, a piece that featured stunning floral and circular embellishments. The 61-year-old actress topped off her elegant look with ruby and diamond chandelier earrings by Chopard.

Out of more than 6,700 people, 43 per cent of voters chose the "Ghost" actress as this year's best-dressed celebrity at 2024 Cannes. She was put up against Eva Longoria, Kelly Rowland, Emma Stone and Alessandra Ambrosio.

Earlier in May, Moore was named as Chopard's "godmother" this year to honour recipients of the Trophée Chopard, an award given to two young, up-and-coming actors.

"I feel really lucky to be chosen to be a godmother to these two extraordinary talents," she said, according to People. She joked how in the United States, "being a godmother kind of means that you have no responsibility," adding, "you get to give the kids all the things that the parents don't allow, like candy and toys."

Also walking the "Kinds of Kindness" premiere on May 17, Eva Longoria was considered by 20 per cent of Yahoo Canada voters to be the second-best dressed celebrity at Cannes this year. The 49-year-old actress looked stunning wearing a shimmering Elie Saab gown that featured a plunging neckline and a dramatic train.

In the right light, the silver dress's reflections made the piece look a soft pastel pink. Longoria paired the look with a shining necklace from Pasquale Bruni that featured morganite, white and grey diamonds.

Amongst more than 5,700 Yahoo Canada readers, Bella Hadid's brown sheer halter midi dress didn't cut it for the 2024 Cannes red carpet. The supermodel wore the Saint Laurent dress at the premiere of "The Apprentice" on May 20, joining a fashion trend of revealing nipples.

Hadid's look was the worst look for voters when put up against Coco Rocha, Margaret Qualley, Maria Bakalova and Julianne Moore.

The 27-year-old's look, created by Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello, was part of the fashion house's winter 2024 collection, according to Cosmopolitan. It was a departure from the star's recent looks which have been centering around vintage and archival pieces.

Coco Rocha sadly couldn't sway the votes of her fellow Canadians. The supermodel also attended the red carpet for "The Apprentice" on May 20, wearing a Robert Wun "trench gown" outfit that might've been a bit too avant garde for most people's tastes.

Out of all Yahoo Canada voters, 20 per cent considered the 35-year-old Toronto native to be the worst dressed. The piece was part of Wun's summer 2024 collection, and was accessorized with a large diamond necklace and a matching ring.
