Caron Names New Perfumer

PARIS – Caron has named Louise Turner its new perfume creation lead.

“This partnership not only fuels my passion for fragrance creation, but also opens the door to a new wave of creativity,” said the Givaudan perfumer in a statement. “Together, we will blend tradition with innovation, creating scents that resonate with the heart and soul of the brand while pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in perfumery.”

“Louise is a consummate professional in the perfumery world, and a passionate artist,” said Hélène Levy, managing director of Paris-based Caron. “She has offered haute parfumerie both great success and the most free-spirited creations. She exemplifies simplicity, a rare sincerity and a desire to give her whole self to everything she creates.

“Her work, epitomizing elegance, sensitivity and creativity, will give Caron a fresh and firmly forward-looking quality,” continued Levy.

Turner — who often works with floral olfactive notes — gleans inspiration from nature and childhood memories from gardens in Kent, England. She has created perfumes for brands including Carolina Herrera, Coach, Chloé, Dries Van Noten and Ex Nihilo.

Her first fragrance for Caron will come out in the fall of this year.

Turner succeeds Jean Jacques, who was Caron’s last in-house perfumer.

Caron was founded in 1904 by perfumer Ernest Daltroff and Félice Wanpouille. Some of Caron’s most iconic scents are Tabac Blond, from 1919, and Pour Un Homme de Caron, the first men’s fragrance, from 1934. Today, Pour Un Homme remains the top-selling masculine fragrance for the house.

Ariane de Rothschild acquired Caron in 2018 through the family’s Luxembourg-based holding company, Cattleya Finance SA. Her daughter Olivia de Rothschild serves as Caron’s artistic director.
