Celine Dion 'touched' by 17-year-old African teenager's rendition of her song
A viral video showing a 17-year-old Gabonese teenager named Samuel performing a spectacular rendition of Celine Dion's classic love song "Power of Love" has finally reached the Canadian songstress. The mother of three took to Facebook to applaud the young man's talent and provide further encouragement to follow his dreams.
"Samuel, your talent is as big as your voice. I'm touched my songs have travelled all the way to you and hope we have the chance to meet one day," wrote Celine, adding, "May all your dreams come true. Keep singing like you do. When music comes from the heart, it knows no borders! Céline xxx"
The video, which has now been viewed more than 1.5 million times, shows Samuel singing an a cappella rendition of the powerful ballad while sitting on a staircase in his apartment building.
HOW CELINE IS RAISING HER SONS FOLLOWING RENE'S PASSING
Local Gabonese blogger Barack Nyare Mba posted the video last week after coming across it via a friend. He later spoke to French 24 about the viral hit and how Samuel and his family responded to him sharing the performance without his permission. "I went to meet with his family this week. They were very surprised to my approach, but happy for their son who has received many serious proposals from producers."
