Changes are coming to this upscale Kansas City restaurant. They’re ‘keeping it fun’

Since opening in 2017, Corvino Supper Club and Tasting Room has offered diners two experiences — hence the name.

The supper club is the more traditional fine-dining restaurant — a dining room with 72 seats, a bar and a small stage. The tasting room is a more intimate experience: a 10-course, prix fixe menu with a view of the open kitchen. Just 18 seats are available per night, Thursday to Sunday. The meal is $165, or $260 with a beverage pairing.

Come Sept. 1, the tasting room will close, owners Michael and Christina Corvino announced Tuesday. In its place they plan to open Songbird, a cocktail lounge.

“We want to not only have something fantastic to drink, but let’s be honest — some melted cheese and bread or a fried salty snack is incredibly satisfying,” the Corvinos said of their aspirations for the space. “We have no limits to what we can do, but we’re keeping it fun.”

The restaurant is also putting its Sunday brunch on “hiatus,” the Corvinos said. The last one is this Sunday.

Corvino, at 1830 Walnut St. in the Crossroads, has racked up a variety of accolades since its debut seven years ago, including James Beard Award nominations. Its seaweed doughnuts were named one of the The New York Times’ “25 Dishes We Couldn’t Stop Thinking About This Year” in 2022.
