Charity combats cost of living crisis with £5 Chinese meals for elderly: ‘It means a lot to them’
With the cost of living crisis in full swing, London charity Hackney Chinese Community Services is offering cheap meals to elderly people searching for good company and even better food.
The charity aims to support elderly East and South East Asian communities in the London borough.
Running every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, their lunch club cooks healthy and traditional Chinese food and provides a space for community members to come together.
Club members pay just £5 for their hot homemade meals, with non-members paying £8.
As well as the lunch club, the charity also offers a Mahjong club, table tennis, line dancing, singing lessons, and a book club.
