When it comes to natural-looking yet glamorous makeup, few brands do it better than Charlotte Tilbury. The makeup artist turned beauty entrepreneur has become a go-to among celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Amal Clooney, and even Meghan Markle, as well as being a staple during red carpet events.

I'm no stranger to the celeb-approved makeup brand either, so when I heard that Charlotte Tilbury would be launching a new foundation, I jumped at the chance to put the new Beautiful Skin Foundation to the test.

Curious to know if it lived up to its claims? Read on for my thoughts.

The details

The newest Charlotte Tilbury foundation retails for $55 CAD/$44 USD and is billed as delivering medium coverage plus hydration, for a healthy looking glow. It uses ingredients like hyaluronic acid and rose complex to plump, smooth, and brighten skin with every use — all in a lightweight glowing formula.

It's available in 30 blendable shades and offers up to 16 hours of wear for a long-lasting wear. Each tube is also fully recyclable, and offers a vegan-friendly formula.

First impressions

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm not a huge foundation girl — I'm just not a fan of the airbrushed, cakey look that often accompanies many complexion products. I'd much rather go bare-faced and use concealer in the places I need some extra coverage than deal with the hassle that comes along with a full face of makeup.

Initially I was wary of trying this new offering from Charlotte Tilbury for that very reason, but I can officially say that I'm a foundation convert. In all my years of testing beauty products (both for work and just for fun) I've never loved a foundation more than this one. It definitely delivers on its claims of leaving skin with a natural, "healthy looking glow" for skin that truly looks like skin.

I applied the foundation in the shade 5 neutral, and absolutely loved the dewy, glowing finish and the ultra lightweight feel. It evened out my complexion and provided a solid base for the rest of my makeup, which all blended seamlessly together when I used my beautyblender sponge.

I also didn't find any creasing throughout the day around my mouth or eyes, but did need a bit of a touch-up after blowing my nose — more proof that I forgot that I was even wearing makeup at all.

What others are saying

So far this foundation has earned a 4.4-star rating from shoppers on the Charlotte Tilbury website, with reviewers of all ages loving its glowing finish.

"[This] foundation has me looking younger and therefore feeling younger," shared one reviewer. "It's super hydrating with only medium coverage, and my skin looks brighter. My dullness and aging look has simply diminished."

"This is the foundation to end all foundations. I have extremely dry, textured skin and the finish of this foundation makes me look healthy, hydrated and glowing. Glides over my dry patches like a dream and doesn’t seem to accentuate them like other foundations," another added.

While many shoppers loved the glowy effect this foundation leaves behind, others found that it may not be the best option for oily skin.

"I really wanted to love it but it made me look unusually shiny. The coverage was okay and it didn't feel too heavy, and the application was easy but it needs a powder to kill the shine, which is a shame," one customer wrote.

Final thoughts

If you're a fan of matte makeup, you'll definitely want to stay clear of this hydrating and glow-inducing foundation. However, if you're like me and want your skin to still look like skin when you're wearing makeup, you'll want to add this foundation to your cart ASAP because shades are already beginning to sell out.
