Canadian influencers 'sending love' as beloved stylist Charly Goss passes away
Charly Goss is being remembered by those in her industry as "an inspiration."
Charly Goss has passed away after a courageous fight against cancer.
The Canadian stylist and founder of Charly Goss Style Inc. was renowned for her fashion sense and creative vision. On Monday, Goss' business Instagram account shared the news of her death, accompanied by a touching tribute including photos with loved ones.
The heartfelt post, captioned "We love you, Charly," celebrated her strength and determination throughout the long and arduous fight against the disease.
"She possessed an incredible talent and knowledge of fashion," the message read, adding Goss "embraced fashion as a means of self-expression."
Following the announcement, Goss' fans and fellow Canadian influencers, including Sarah Nicole Landry (The Birds Papaya), expressed their condolences in comments beneath the post.
"Sending everyone so much love," Landry commented alongside a heart emoji.
She also shared a photo of Goss and herself to her story, writing "goodbye my friend."
In the comments of Goss' team's post, a fan wrote: "Charly, you inspired and taught us all."
One person shared: "I was hoping to never see this post. My heart breaks for Charly’s children."
"This makes me so sad. Taken way too young. She was such an inspiration. Rest in peace, Charly," another commented.
'She shaped so many people'
Well-known wellness author and recipe developer Liz Moody shared their sympathies in her Instagram stories.
"The thing I keep crying about is even when her cancer was clearly hitting her so hard, she was continuing to build her business," Moody wrote. "The strength to do that boggles my mind."
Moody also commented on the announcement post, saying Goss was "just a game changer of a person.
"I take so much comfort in knowing how much she shaped so many people, not just in terms of our style but in being fully ourselves in every moment of our lives."
Canadian size-inclusive model Roxy Earle also took to Instagram to express condolences.
"Charly's impact on her community will live on," Earle wrote on her story. "My prayers are with all of you. A heartbreaking day."
In an essay for Best Health in 2021, Goss revealed that after she was diagnosed with tongue cancer at the age of 23 and underwent intense treatment, including having her tongue removed.
"The doctors had to carefully remove the remainder of my tongue," she wrote. "They took skin from my left forearm and rebuilt again, as best they could."
She continued: "Though they couldn’t guarantee I would ever speak or eat normally again, I’m British and full of loud opinions, so there was no stopping me. It’s a challenge, but I consider myself lucky that I can still enjoy a hamburger and, more importantly, a glass of wine.
"Every challenge I’ve had with my self-confidence led me here," Goss added. "Imperfect? Sure. But I am showing the f—k up anyway, and you can, too."
