Safety is every parent’s top priority when shopping for baby gear. But even well-reviewed products can fail to meet safety standards—which is why 4,400 Babyjoy high chairs are now being recalled due to serious entrapment and suffocation hazards.

If you own one of these high chairs, stop using it immediately. Here’s what you need to know.

Which high chairs are affected?

Costway is recalling high chairs that were sold online between November 2022 and November 2024 on Amazon, Walmart, Costway, and Shein. These high chairs come in three colors:

  • Gray (Model BB5656GR)

  • Pink (Model BB5656PI)

  • Beige (Model BB5656BE)

You’ll find “Babyjoy” printed on the front of the tray and “Goplus Corp.” on a label on the back of the seat. If you have one of these at home, stop using it immediately.

Why were these high chairs recalled?

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) flagged this high chair for two major safety violations:

  • Inclined seat design: The chair reclines at an angle greater than 10 degrees, violating the Safe Sleep for Babies Act, which bans inclined infant sleep surfaces due to suffocation risk.

  • Entrapment hazard: The space between the seat and tray is large enough to trap a child, posing a serious risk of injury or worse.

What should parents do next?

If you own one of these Babyjoy high chairs, it’s crucial to:

  • Stop using the high chair immediately to prevent potential harm.

  • Contact Costway for a full refund. Customers can receive a prepaid return label or provide photos of the destroyed product by emailing recall@costway.com.

  • For assistance, call Costway toll-free at 844-242-1885 (Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. PT) or visit their recall page at www.costway.com/recall-high-chair.

So far, no injuries have been reported, but when it comes to baby gear, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
