Your Cheetos Habit Just Inspired a New Font You Can Use Anywhere

Cheetos wants to be your next graphic design inspiration.

On Thursday, just in time for National Handwriting Day, Cheetos introduced a brand-new font inspired by the bright orange fingertips its snacks create.

"Introducing The Other Hand Font: the world's first font created entirely by a designer's Other Hand (because they couldn't resist reserving their dominant hand to snack on a bag of Cheetos)," the brand stated in a release shared with Food & Wine.

The font, designed by Rich Silverstein at San Francisco-based Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, is now available to anyone who wants to try it.

"Design is the purest form of a brand's expression, and this font embodies Cheetos like nothing we could have ever imagined," Silverstein said. "It's a testament to the countless hours spent crafting every detail. Doing it all with our non-dominant hand was an experience we'll never forget."

Cheetos explained that fans can use the font in a few ways, but it all begins with downloading it for use at Cheetos.com. From there, you can use the font however you please — Word documents, in your designs, in company-wide emails, and more.

Then, Cheetos is inviting fans to get creative with the font in unexpected places, like in "their email signature at work, their college essay, or even their resumes. Those with the wildest and most mischievous uses posted on social media and tagging @Cheetos will have the chance to get their hands on a limited-edition The Other Hand Font-inspired bag of Cheetos." (Though, as an adjunct college professor, I will note that you may want to also submit that paper in Times New Roman, too, just so you don't fail.)

Lastly, you can also make your day a little more cheerful by installing the browser plug-in created and released by Cheetos that turns any website's font into The Other Hand Font. (Cheetos gave the following instructions for how to do that: Install The Other Hand Font from the Chrome Web Store or by typing "Cheetos" into your Google search and selecting "The Other Hand Font extension" in the upper right-hand corner.)

"The beauty of the 'Other Hand' campaign is that it celebrates a very real human truth: Most people use their dominant to eat Cheetos, which means they have to do basically everything else in life using their Other Hand," Chris Bellinger, the chief creative officer at PepsiCo Foods U.S., shared. "This latest stunt of introducing a hilariously bad font continues to show the mischievous — and messy — consequence of snacking on Cheetos."
