Chips Ahoy Has a New Cookie That Took 40 Recipes to Get Right

And thousands of hours in the kitchen, too.

We love the original Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookie, but we also grow excited when we hear the company is up to something brand new.

While we've seen this cookie company develop plenty of new offerings over the years (hello, Chips Ahoy made with mini Reese's Pieces), its latest debut is so special that it took a lot of trial and error to make it happen.

Chips Ahoy’s New Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookie

Chips Ahoy recently launched its first-ever certified gluten-free chocolate chip cookie. This is a big deal for the cookie company, not only because the popular chocolate chip cookie is now suitable for those with certain dietary restrictions, but also because this particular cookie was a long time in the making. Over 3,000 hours and 40 different recipes went into making this cookie just right.

"When we set out to create our first Chips Ahoy! Gluten-Free cookie, we didn't want it to be a good gluten-free cookie, we wanted it to be a great cookie that's also gluten-free," Jainette Quinones, brand manager of Chips Ahoy innovation, said in a press release. "I am proud to say that our innovation team has succeeded – the new Chips Ahoy! Gluten-Free cookie is an absolutely delicious cookie that everyone can enjoy."

The latest addition follows after the company debuted its MMMproved Chips Ahoy Original recipe, which includes a higher cacao content and higher Madagascar vanilla extract for an even tastier flavor.

Nabisco also launched OREO Gluten-Free Chocolate Sandwich cookies in 2021, and after much success, this line now includes several different flavors.

Chips Ahoy Gluten-Free cookies are now hitting shelves in stores nationwide. You'll find this product in specially marked packaging to show it is certified gluten free.
