Christina Applegate says she's 'nervous' and 'grateful' about 1st award show appearance since MS diagnosis
Christina Applegate is headed to her first awards show since her 2021 multiple sclerosis diagnosis, and she’s feeling all the feelings.
The Dead to Me star is nominated for a 2023 Critics' Choice Award. The 51 year old used social media to express her nerves and gratitude about attending her first awards show since 2019.
“So this Sunday will be the first awards show I have been to since 2019. And the first since MS. NERVOUS! But grateful to the @CriticsChoice for including me,” she tweeted.

Applegate was met with encouragement from her Hollywood peers.
“You got this. Don’t be nervous. Everyone is cheering you on!!!” tweeted actor Damon Gonzalez.
“Can’t wait to say hello on Sunday!” responded creator, producer and Critics’ Choice board member Shawn Edwards.
Multiple sclerosis is a disease of the central nervous system that interrupts the flow of information within the brain, as well as between the brain and body. In 2021, Applegate shared her multiple sclerosis diagnosis with the world on Twitter.
"A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS," she wrote. "It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a**hole blocks it."

She continued, "As one of my friends that has MS said, 'We wake up and take the indicated action.' And that’s what I do. So now I ask for privacy. As I go through this thing. Thank you."

In Dec. 2022, Applegate was a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show. When asked about what it’s like living with MS, Applegate joked, "Can I say it sucked balls?"
The Netflix star also shared details of her condition.
"There's four different kinds of MS so not everyone is the same,” she continued. “Everyone's symptoms are different, everyone's experience with it is different. Shooting the show was the hardest thing I'd ever done in my life because I was diagnosed during shooting. I didn't know what was happening to me."
The Married With Children alum said she "couldn't walk" and had to "use a wheelchair to get me to set."
"I was freaking out until someone was like 'You need an MRI.' And then, I found out on a Monday after work that I had MS, you know, a disease that I am going to have for the rest of my life," Applegate recalled.
