Would it really be Coachella without the surprise guests?

The 2024 music and arts festival kicked off its annual two-weekend run in Indio, California, on April 12 — and, as expected, this year's lineup continues to wow the crowed with electric performances and unexpected appearances on stage.

Headliner Lana Del Rey kicked off Coachella weekend 1 with a dreamy hit-filled set that featured songs like "Summertime Sadness" and "Doin' Time." This marked Del Rey's return to the Coachella stage for the first time in a decade — "exactly 10 years ago to the day," she told the crowd.

Del Rey surprised festivalgoers in more ways than one, between making her way to the Main Stage on motorcycle through the crowd of thousands before welcoming major star power like Billie Eilish to join her in dueting "Video Games" and Ocean Eyes."

Tyler, the Creator and Doja Cat joined Del Rey in headlining Coachella this year on Saturday and Sunday night, respectively. Plus, a promised reunion occurred with Gwen Stefani and her band No Doubt on April 13 when they took the stage for the first time since 2015 (and will return once again on April 21 during weekend 2).

The music festival kicked off weekend 2 on Friday, April 19 with another stacked lineup of surprises. Norah Jones joined Sabrina Carpenter on stage during her golden-hour set, while Camila Cabello shocked fans by joining Del Rey for a song (and debuting her lengthy, blonde locks) during their performance.

Read on for all the artists who made surprise guest appearances during Coachella weekend 1 and 2 this year.

Lana Del Rey kicked off Coachella weekend one with a memorable set that featured three guest appearances by fellow collaborators and hit-making friends during her headlining set on Friday night.

Jon Batiste was the first artist to join Del Rey on the Main Stage to sing an extended version of “Candy Necklace.” The multi-instrumentalist dazzled on the piano, while Del Rey sat atop it and sang.

Del Rey then welcomed Billie Eilish to the stage after Batiste. She surprised the crowed with an unpredicted performance of her 2016 hit "Ocean Eyes" before singing Del Rey's "Video Games" right after.

Towards the end of Del Rey's set, Jack Antonoff played piano on stage while she appeared as a hologram to perform “Hope Is a Dangerous Thing for a Woman Like Me — but I Have It.”

(Antonoff and his band Bleachers are on the Coachella lineup and perform Saturday night.)

Bizarrap took over the Sahara tent with a high-energy, rave-like set — while sporting his signature hat and sunglasses — on Friday night. Amid his live DJ set, the Argentine producer surprised the already-amped crowd by welcoming Shakira to the stage.

The global superstar joined him about halfway through his set to perform “La Fuerte," a surprise that was topped by an announcement made right after the performance.

Shakira then revealed she's setting out on a world tour. "Finally we’re going on tour — starting here, in November! Can't wait!” she announced on stage.

Gwen Stefani and No Doubt's slot on the lineup was enough to shock music lovers when Coachella first announced they'd be reuniting for the first time in nine years. Fast forward to their Saturday night set, they continued to surprise fans by welcoming Olivia Rodrigo to the stage for a song.

The "Driver's License" hitmaker, who recently wrapped the first leg of her anticipated "Guts Tour," joined Stefani and the band for a back-and-forth rendition of "Bathwater."

Rodrigo showcased her fangirl for the iconic rock-punk group by wearing an "I heart ND" tee.

Dance moves featuring fancy footwork and hysterical-banter aside, Tyler surprised guests further with guest appearances. Childish Gambino (a.k.a. Donald Glover), A$AP Rocky, Charlie Wilson and the highly-anticipated Kali Uchis each joined him on stage.

Gambino joined Tyler for “Running Out of Time." Rocky came out for "Potato Salad" and “Who Dat Boy.” Charlie Wilson joined him for "EARFQUAKE” and Uchis for “See You Again."

Also, Rihanna shocked fans as she made her way through the crowd with Rocky to watch the rest of Tyler's set.

Vampire Weekend was a last-minute add to the Coachella lineup this year, an addition that was announced when the set times were revealed the day before the festival began.

What was even more of a surprise was the guest they brought out as they rocked through their collection of hits — including "This Life," "Diane Young" and "A-Punk" — was a cameo from Paris Hilton, who popped up on stage for a game of corn hole while frontman Ezra Koenig and the band jammed through a medley of fan-favorite songs.

Late Sublime frontman Bradley Nowell's son Jakob made his official debut as the band's new singer at Coachella on Saturday. He was joined by original members Bud Gough and Eric Wilson, whom Bradley tapped to be his son's co-godfathers.

“This is my family,” Jakob told PEOPLE on the eve of his anticipated set. “I consider the bandmates in Sublime my uncles.”

The family energy was felt when the group took the stage for their set that brought the California-cool, laid-back vibes to the festival as they jammed through hits — old and new — like "Badfish" and "What I Got" as the sun set behind them.

After performing "Doin Time" for the first time since 1996, Jakob and Sublime closed their Coachella set with '90s classic "Santeria" while visuals of surf scenes and sunsets filled the screens behind them.
